Operation School Box

School Supply Collection for Local Elementary Schools

It is back to school time, at-home edition. First Norfolk is collecting shoebox-sized containers of school supplies to help local families for children to learn at home. We will collect the boxes at the church and they will be distributed to local elementary schools.

Here's the list of needed items:

  • Fiskar scissors
  • Markers
  • #2 Pencils
  • Index cards
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Jump Ropes
  • Dry erase markers
  • Pink thick block erasers
  • Paint brush sets
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Oil pastel or tempura paint pan sets

Please deliver your donation to our Kempsville location on Sunday mornings or during normal business hours inside a shoe box-sized plastic bin. If you are not comfortable shopping yet, you can give funds to be used for this project at by putting “Schoolbox” in the memo field.

Five Questions Parents Can Ask Their Kids About Coronavirus

How to Have a Family Worship Experience at Home

RightNow Media: Kids of all ages can enjoy the most popular kids shows and movies of all genres for free! There are sing alongs, history, science and adventure.

Here are some fun Family Devotions to accompany some of your kid’s favorite movies!

We want learning about God to be fun and exciting!  We welcome children, grades 1-5, to join us in a grade level Zoom LIFEgroup where they will:

  • Be led by friendly, nurturing, and encouraging leaders;
  • Learn, through Bible study, how to apply God’s word into their lives;
  • Grow a loving and lasting relationship with Jesus;
  • Create friendships with others.

It is our desire to share God’s love with every child to a point where they will choose to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Email Julie Hunt to get your child into one of these groups.

...will be back in 2021

We've made the difficult decision to not have VBS in 2020. At this point where we are in Virginia with re-opening and the continued affect of the Coronavirus, we believe the best option is to hold Backyard Bible Clubs of small groups in neighborhoods during the month of August. Look for more details in the days ahead.

There will not be children's camp during Summer 2020

We are looking forward to going back to Camp Willow Run in August 2021

It's time to get on board ... First Baptist Norfolk Kid's Camp is in August each year! Third through fifth graders can jump on board the train at Camp Willow Run to join us for Kid’s Camp, where we sleep in real boxcars and spend our days having fun in Lake Gaston, enjoying s'mores by the campfire, and learning about Jesus.
