LIFEgroups

Looking for just the right place where you can love and be loved, care and be cared for, serve and be served? We have just what you are looking for – LIFEgroups! At First Norfolk, LIFEgroups are small group gatherings of individuals (just like you) who also recognize the importance of being connected with others in ways that help them grow to love God and others even more. Being a part of a LIFEgroup will connect you with a group of friends who care for each other, and together grow in their faith through Bible Study and fellowships in homes. The name LIFEgroups replaces the names Sunday Bible Study or Sunday School.

This name, coupled with the terms On Campus or Off Campus, indicates these groups can have a variety of days, times, or locations. Currently space on campus at 9:30 and 11am on Sundays is very limited. Off Campus locations allow opportunities for weeknight LIFEgroups in homes or other community spaces. On Campus groups meet at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 for adults with groups for preschoolers, children and students being offered at 9:30 and 11:00am.

Each of our LIFEgroups share the same mission – creating communities where people grow to Love God, Love Others and Live the Mission! If you are not currently connected to a LIFEgroup, please stop by Guest Services in the Lobby to find a group that is a great fit for you!

Frequently Asked Questions About LIFEgroups

1. How much time is this going to take?

ON Campus LIFEgroups last for60-75 minutes. OFF campus groups may be up to 2 hours depending on whether or not they include a meal. Additionally, many LIFEgroups members begin to do life together outside of the LIFEgroup - eating out, playing golf, meeting at the beach, going to a movie, etc. The community that is built can be life changing. Most groups have parties and do service projects together as well.

2. What are we going to do with our children during life group?

ON campus groups are available for all age groups. Groups for pre-school, children and students are age-graded. OFF campus groups have a variety of options. Some will keep children with them if very small. Other groups hire a babysitter to care for children during the group time, or have adult group members rotate keeping the kids in another room in the house.

3. Am I going to have to talk or can I just sit and listen during a life group?

Life group is like family---- sometimes you talk, sometimes you listen. No one is forced to talk or to lead the group. We all function at a different pace and you are allowed to do this as well.

4. Will I have to pray out loud?

No, just grow at your own pace. No one is forced to participate until they feel comfortable doing so.

5. Who will be in this group?

OFF campus LIFEgroups are often formed by the leader inviting friends, neighbors, acquaintances, or others who share something in common, i.e. same neighborhood, same career/workplace, similar age or life stage. ON Campus groups generally are made up of individuals of similar age or life station/common interest. All ON Campus groups are open for new people to attend at any time.

6. How much do I have to know about the Bible?

Nothing. LIFEgroups provide an atmosphere for building community while learning from the Bible. It is a safe place to say, “I need help learning more about this.”

7. Why connect with a LIFEgroup?

Because connecting with a life group is the number one way you will learn how to love God, love others and live the mission with an amazing group of friends in this church.
