Serve

We serve our community in tangible ways by conducting food distributions, collecting items for those in need, coordinating service projects, rolling up our sleeves in area schools, and more to show the love of Jesus to our community.

Big Serve: Preschool First Sunday of Each Month | Preschool lobby

Looking for a meaningful way to teach your children how to love and serve others? Join us as we collect food items for local families who are currently experiencing food insecurity. The first Sunday of each month we will collect food items in the designated container in the preschool lobby. Kids are welcome to make cards to include with the food items.

    Luke 3:11 Homeless Ministry

Luke 3:11 is a ministry of our church. Volunteers continue to serve a portion (typically about 50 adults) of the homeless community in Norfolk on the first Sunday morning of every month (before church). The men and women who live on the streets can receive a hot breakfast, head to toe weather appropriate clothing, toiletries, gift cards for a meal, backpacks and many other items. If you would like to help provide for the homeless in a meaningful way, the following items are always needed:

  • Vienna sausage (small can)
  • Cheese or peanut butter crackers
  • Pop-top cans of Chef Boyardee or similar
  • Tuna pouches
  • Granola bars
  • Hotel sized toiletries
  • Bar soap
  • Foot powder
  • Toothpaste
  • Tooth brushes
  • Disposable razors
  • Men’s belts
  • Men’s hoodies (large and extra-large)

  • Items may be dropped off in the bins inside of the Live the Mission Center. For more information or to help with the distribution or other events for the homeless contact Jim and Terry Freeman at:
